On March 20, Xue Danfeng, vice chairman of Energy China International, met with Ilyas Bakytzhan, Vice Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, at the Company’s head office. The two sides witnessed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. and the National Nuclear Center under the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, and unveiled the Scientific and Technical Innovation Center for Hydrogen Energy in Central Asia.
Focusing on the “One Center” of the “30•60” system solution and the “two pillars” of integrated energy storage and hydrogen energy, Energy China is vigorously developing hydrogen energy businesses and strategically deploying in key regional markets such as Central Asia. According to the memorandum, both sides will collaborate with Shanghai Jiao Tong University to promote international innovation cooperation in hydrogen energy research, conduct academic exchanges on hydrogen energy, train talents, and showcase and apply scientific research achievements, exploring a new integrated model of industry-university-research-application collaboration.
In his speech, Ilyas Bakytzhan extended gratitude to Energy China for its contributions to Kazakhstan’s development. He noted that Kazakhstan has formulated a long-term power development plan, and the two sides possess substantial opportunities for collaboration across new energy, natural gas, and hydrogen energy sectors. As a strategic resource, hydrogen energy holds significant development potential under the context of global energy transition. Energy China possesses advanced technologies and rich experience in the energy sector, particularly its endeavors and practice in hydrogen energy exploration. He hoped that the two sides would enhance collaboration in hydrogen energy technology R&D, market analysis, and project development, thus further fueling the China-Kazakhstan energy cooperation.
Among other attendees were principals from the Department of International Cooperation and the Department of Nuclear Energy and Industry under the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, and the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives from Energy China International and China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd.
