PCOD Certificate Officially Issued for Saudi Arabia’s 2.6GW Al Shuaibah PV Power Plant

On June 22 local time, the 2.6GW Al Shuaibah PV Power Plant in Saudi Arabia, EPC-contracted by China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC), received the Provisional Certificate of Overall Commercial Operation Date (PCOD) for its ASB2 sub-project, issued by the project owner. This milestone marks the Project’s completion of all key procedures, including full-capacity grid connection, system performance testing, grid compliance acceptance, and site handover, and its official entry into the commercial operation and warranty period.

As a key component of Saudi Arabia’s “Vision 2030” renewable energy program, the Project consists of two sub-projects, ASB1 and ASB2, spanning a total area of 52.54 square kilometers. It currently stands the world’s largest single-unit PV project by installed capacity. Once fully operational, the Project is expected to generate approximately 282.2 billion kWh of electricity over a 35-year lifespan, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 245 million tons.
